With
Tracks Soaked Unbound Energy / TeamVRM.com’s Clark Goes Grand Prixing
Since it has been raining everyday for the past week, all
the motocross races were cancelled. I
called down to a local track, Backwoods MX, to see if their grand prix race was
still on. They said it was dry and they
would be racing. I thought it would be
fun to go play in the woods so we loaded up and went.
The course was around 4 miles long. It consisted of a motocross track, open
field, but mostly tight woods. The
track was dry but the woods were a little slick with some monster mud holes.
I
knew I would have some stiff competition from a local expert woods rider, Shad
Ricketts. I knew I would be faster on
the open stuff but he was way better in the woods.
I
decided to bring this back out of retirement for one last event. I pulled the holeshot on the 250 two stroke.
I led the first lap with Shad close behind.
Then on the second lap, I got stuck in a mud hole. It was buried over the hubs. I had to get off my bike and pick both
wheels out of the hole. I lost like 40
seconds. I was way back but I kept
charging. I started to make a little
ground up. Then, with two laps to go
Shad’s hydraulic clutch broke and I was able to go on for the win.
It
was a fun day because I like running for 1 hr and then I can be home before
lunch. It was good training and
bouncing off trees can only make you tougher.
Loretta Lynn’s is getting closer.
